About the Artist
Sarah Fernsler Johnston is a printmaker and teaching artist in Raleigh, North Carolina. She specializes in making linoleum block prints on both paper and fabric. Each artwork made is hand drawn, hand carved, and hand printed in a little studio space. As a full time parent to two kids, many of the artist's prints are inspired by the child's point of view that Sarah loves capturing in her artwork.
Sarah fell in love with printmaking as a college student at The College of William and Mary where she studied Psychology and Studio Art. She also earned an M.Ed in Elementary Education and a MA in Art Education from The University of Maryland. Sarah has been both a classroom teacher and an elementary art teacher and was a Museum Educator at The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art while living in Massachusetts. The artist is currently a full time momma who tries to get as much time in her studio space as possible. Sarah can be found on social media where she shares her print process and some of her teaching ideas to inspire little artists' hands and minds.
